I am SOL. I just found out that I have 3 years 36000 maintainence warranty and 4 year 50000 full warranty. My car is just over 3 years but way below 36000. SO I guess I have to now pay for all maintainence. I was confused with the fact that 2003 and beyond cars have 4 years 50000for both maintainence and full warranty. Oh well.

Did you talk with a service advisor? If you are just over the 3 year mark, but under on mileage, maybe a grace period exists...

I spoke to my advisor and he told me that it is too late as it has dropped out from the bmw system. I am going to contact BMW and see what they say. As far as the extended warranty, I have not decided yet. I am torn between getting it and not.

If you owned the car from day one and have taken good care of it and don't abuse it or run it hard all the time I wouldn't purchase the extended warranty (unless you've been getting it serviced a lot). The E46 tends to have its problems AFTER 100k and BMW knows this I'm sure. One thing is the auto trannys which tend to go shortly after 100k...

I got a response from BMWUSA and it was basically a canned response where they rambled on about how each delearship is independently owned blah, blah blah. Didn't explain why the warranty price they showed on the website varied from the dealer's quote. I followed up with a mechanic whose shop specializes in German cars and got quotes in the range of $240+ for inspection one and $450+ for inspection two. Based on these prices and the "friendly" treatment I got from Classic BMW I'll be using a private shop once my maintenance/warranty is up.

I was quoted around $1400 for extended maintenance. Warranty was around $2800 I think... The shop I have used before for my other cars is European Motors off of Lovers Lane just West of the Tollroad in Dallas. The guy's name is Yerg and he's really fair and knows his stuff. Their number is 214-350-0805.
Which Service advisor do you use at Classic? My guy wasn't any good. I think because I bought my car used from an individual and not them they treated me like a pariah.

My 330 has 45,000 miles and I just picked it up from the dealer after a scheduled oil change. While there, the service advisor told me he could offer the extended maintenance service for 2 more years or another 50,000 miles for $996.00. This maintenance coverage is from BMW and the price was printed on a sheet the advisor quoted from. Sounds like a good deal since the scheduled maintenance will cost about $2,000.00 for the next 50,000 miles if I pay for it myself.
