I was thinking of buying the Hoen, they have made improvments on their bulbs, but which ones? The Höen xenonmatch Titanium™, Höen xenonmatch™, Höen xenonmatch plus™?

I am not messing around with trying a greater wattage than is recommended...I don't want to deal with fuses and wire failure...or it shorting out other components.

I was looking at the Hoen's too. I've always hated that my fog lights don't match my xenons.

When it's said that they're not that bright....how much so?

Response From Hoen:

You can use the xenonmatch Ti for high beams and the xenonmatch for the fog lamps. Its important to run factory wattages in fog lamp housings which our xenonmatch is.

I ordered the xenon match for fog lights titanium for High Beams, now my car is all xenon, atleast 2 real and 4 look a likes.

Excellent...how much did you pay? You'll have to let me know who it looks. I wonder if they will really match (back in '00 I put in some fog lights in that claimed to be similar...but they weren't). I'm sure the technology has changed a lot. I can't wait to see what you think.

I have the Hoen Xenonmatch fogs in my car. For my '04 they are the 9006's. They are 55W and match perfectly to my xenons.

Find my post with pics by doing a search with my username and the word "hoen".

You made the right choice by going with the Hoens JC.

Let us know how the high beams look as I am thinking of doing the same. I bet they will look awesome when DRLs are on.

I was about to order the lights this morning, as last night I was having problems with this dam cable modem. Anyway, I was just doing some quick research to make sure these are the best. However, I came across www.bmwxenon.com and now i am not sure what to buy. They claim these are the best xenons for the fog lights and high beams. THey claim they run at 5,000K, and I think Xenonmatch run at 4,000K, spo these should be brighter. Also, they run at factory wattage. Anyone have bmwxenon bulns?

Your stock Xenon bulbs are 4300K color temperature, but 5000K bulbs will probably be closer to the Xenon 4300K bulbs. Xenon headlights produce a very pretty blue color from most angles that is just pretty much impossible for Halogen bulbs to match. I think you should just go with the Hoen bulbs because their bulbs are designed to match the factory BMW Xenons (even though they are only a 4000K color temperature).

www.bmwxenon.com

Claims that the stock xenon on the BMW run at 6,000K. They state Output power performs double of input. 55W performances as 125W. They are also alto more than hoen 105 compared to 35, do you think the extra money is worth it, they should be brighter than the hoen's.

For your information on the light output:

1. Factory Xenon: 6000K
2. Our Premium Xenons: 5000K
4. PIAA Plama 4200K
5. Your Stock Bulbs: 3910K
6. Other So-Called 5000K Xenon bulbs: 3600K yes, they are labortory tested to be much dimmer thank your stock halogens)

You are getting our Xenons which is the closest performer to factory Xenons with the fraction of the cost.

JC, I really don't think the factory BMW Xenons are 6,000K. 100% of all cars equipped with Xenon headlights are Philips 4300K D2R or D2S bulbs (D2S for projector xenon-equipped cars, such as the 3-series). I am curious as to why bmwxenon states the factory BMW Xenons are 6,000K because the fact is, 4,300K is the most effective Xenon lighting temperature. 4,300K Xenons output 3,200 lumens whereas 6,000K Xenons output only around 2,600 lumens, and as you increase the color temperature (8,000K, 10,000K, 12,000K), the output only gets worse, but the color gets more blue/purple (which definitely look really cool), which is why 6,000K+ Xenon bulbs are so popular in the aftermarket...people prefer form over function. But all cars equipped with Xenon headlights are 4,300K bulbs, 90%+ of the time from Philips. [:)]

One more thing: today, I purchased a new set of fog light bulbs. I have tried several different aftermarket fog light bulbs, and I finally settled on the Philips Vision Plus H4 bulbs (55W/60W, my fog lights double as my high-beams). They illuminate the road very well and are the stock Halogen yellow/orange color, which was okay with me that they don't match the Xenon headlights. But today I ordered a pair of Philips Rallye H4 bulbs. The bulbs feature high wattage filaments that run at 90W/100W to produce much brighter light. They are designed specifically for rally racing and are therefore NOT street legal anywhere in the world (US or Europe). And since they run at almost double the wattage, Philips warns consumers about the extra heat produced by the bulbs that could potentially damage a vehicle's reflectors and/or wiring harness. As always, I am willing to take all the risks involved and I am really curious to see their performance and color output.

I would love to see a car IN PERSON with the bmwxenon fogs. Do you think they are 3 times better because that's what they cost......you could buy 3 sets of the Hoens for 1 set of the bmwxenons.

Hoen does not list any "looks like" wattage, but I wonder what their "looks like" is?

I would bet the bmwxenons are really nice (at a nice price). But as an owner of the Hoens, I can tell you they are really nice too. They are a perfect color match to my stock xenon headlights. They provide plenty of light low and near the car like they are supposed to. I have even used them in the fog and they work perfectly.

Personally I would get the Hoens again because the price is right and the form and function are there too. My $0.02. More like $0.05 wasn't it?

As always, thanks for all the info MrElussive. I am still deciding between hoen and bmwxenon. The hoen xenonmatch seem good, but I am concerned with the brightness, some of the feedback on this board states that they look good but are not very bright. Does anyone have the bmwxenon's, are they brighter? Bmwxenon says with 55 watts they perform as 125W with regards to brightness and they contain 30% of EXCLUSIVE GENUINE ULTRA XENON GAS (Latest technology innovation). Xenonmatch dosen't mention this.

Jimmy

P.S. I am starting to remember the visible light spectrum from chemistry, lol.

just how bright does a fog light need to be? i thought that's what the headlights were for, sure it'd be nice if the fogs were brighter, but unless you live in a silent hill like place, don't you run fogs more for looks than for practicality? but if you got the cash to burn, you gotta get what you wanna get. (from what i'm reading anyway.. no expert on fogs by any means)
