So is anyone interested in the Lumma Tuning CL1 front?

Jason,

If I can't find it anywhere else is it possible that you would be able to get your hands on atleast one? I don't care if I would have to pay a little extra. That is the only front skirt that is going to go on my car.

Doc,

That depends on a couple things.

1. Is it a bumper replacement or does it fit under a plastic bumper? I have the diving boards.
2. How well will it line up with Jasons Mtech-2 kit? Will it sit the same height as the side skirts?
3. Are those fog lights in the lower corners? Those are cool.
4. Does it have to have the black rub strip? The Mtech-2 kit gets rid of those and I kinda like that.

Let me know what's up.

Steve,

Well here's what I can answer. Hopefully Jason can anwer the rest.

1. not sure how it attaches. I have only seen it on one other car at a car show in Germany.
2. It looks like it will line up. In anycase I think it will look bad @$$ with the rest of the Mtech-2 kit. That is what I would like to get with it anyway.
3. Yes, those are fog lights. And yes they are awsome.
4. I am not sure on the rub strip. Again maybe Jason could shed some light on the subject.

I hadn't really thought about those things until you mentioned it. I am glad you did. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Ok gents...here are my thoughts on the idea:

As far as the black strip on the Lumma bumper/spoiler is concerned, it is my understanding that it is molded into the piece. As far as combining this bumper with the m-tech kit...it would be okay with the side skirts, however it wouldn't match up properly with the door panels.

I am going to try calling Lumma Tuning directly in Germany tonight (I really hate the 9 hour time difference). I don't know that I'll be able to get it for you for less than $700 plus shipping here in the US. Do you have somehere in the US that could accept it and then send it to your APO? However, if I can purchase it in Germany, and you are able to will-call the part...I may be able to get it dramatically cheaper. Lumma-Tuning's factory is about 60 miles south of Stuttgart, in Winterlingen. The nearest AutoBahn is A81. I don't know when you're getting back from Iraq either...so I'm sure that will weigh heavily on it as well.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Steve,

The Lumma setup is a bumper replacement. The side skirts on the MTech Kit sit at the same level as the base of the rocker panels. The whole kit makes the car look lower, without actually lowering the car. The nice thing about that is that you can setup the suspension properly and lower the car more than cars where the kit it lower than the original lowest point.

Jason,

While I like the Lumma Tuning, if it doesn't match the door panels I won't do it. The door panels are a big reason I like this kit and it's more important to me to have the cohesive look of the whole package. Though I do like those fog lights.

Do you have an idea about when you'll first start producing this kit? Also, could you post another picture it? For some reason the picture you first posted isn't there anymore.

sorry about the picture disappearing on you guys. I'm moving the website over to a new server. Hopefully I'll have a nice site to show you all in a couple of days. :) I've been pulling longs days til about 2am working on it ;)

as far as production costs are concerned...it's going be be expensive to get the first kit produced. I'll looking at over 2000 just to get the mold of the front spoiler made. It will cost me much less to get the side skirts and door panels made. The nice thing about the sides and door panels is that they go with most e30 body kits...even the stock sport spoiler, so I will probably have those made first.

As for the pics...I'll have those back up in a day or two.

i reckont the M-TechII kit is one of the nicest e30 kits out ther...if you could come up with a good replica that would be awesome...but it would have to be the proper 6 piece style, not like the crappy 4 piece fibreglass moulds that are doing the rounds. Your business sounds really interesting!

jb318is...

thanks for the input :) Where the molds are concerned...the company I'm looking at to produce them has been in business here in the SF Bay Area for over 50 years and they do everything from automotive to industrial and architectual. I'm very confident that they will produce an etrememly high-quality mold...and if I decide to have them make the pieces, it will be nothing short of first-rate.

As for the kit itself...10-11 pieces depending on whether or not the front bumper and spoiler are combined.
