New ZHP or new M3?

I want to buy either one. Who has driven both? How do they compare in speed/handling? Also, how does the exhaust sound compare in each car? I drove the M3 yesterday and found the sound of the exhaust to be too raspy for my taste.

My brother has a //M3 and I would say that in terms of seats, handling, acceleration, and a few other aspects - it's worth it. The exhaust on my brother's car doesn't sound like it's that much different from my friend's 330xi, not sure if that's a break in factor or not.

But man - it's an //M3!

I haven't driven the ZHP, but I've driven the 330ci prior to purchasing my M3. All I can say is that the 330ci handled itself beautifully. It would be my second choice if the M3 wasn't an option. However, when it comes to pure acceleration it doesn't compare.

AWD - These cars are really night & day and only you as the driver can make the true differentiations. Both awsome cars, but not really on par for comparision; M3 has 98 hp more than the ZHP (333hp VS 235hp), thats over 40% more usable ponies. The M3 is a racebred car (comparable to Porcshe 911), where as the ZHP is performance sedan. Honestly if you don't know how an M3 differs and if a slightly more raspy engine/exhaust offend you, then you aren't ready for/nor do you belong driving an M3 (no offense).

GO save yourself some money and buy the ZHP, its an awsome car - read all the rants/raves about it throughout - Every review loves the the ZHP.

Cheers!

I would say that if money isn't a factor then definitely go with the M3. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my ZHP but the M3 is on a totally different level. It really isn't fair to compare the two. Like Nelson330ci said, the M3 should be compared to other sports cars such as Corvette, Porcshe, etc...

The deciding factor for me between the ZHP and the M3 was the insurance cost. I wanted the M3 so bad but it would've cost me almost triple what I pay a year for my car and I just couldn't squeeze that into my budget. (I admit its my own fault for getting too many tickets [?|] ). Also, the M3 will cost you anywhere between 5 to 10 grand more than the ZHP.

As far as handling, I would say that the suspension is pretty close. The ZHP feels like its riding on rails. Acceleration, no contest. The ZHP does 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and the M3 in like 4.7 seconds. The exhaust on the ZHP is a little throaty, more so than a regular 330 but maybe not as much as the M3.

Go with the M3, hands down. It looks better, feels better, does everything better. There is no reason to choose a ZHP over an M3 with money as no object.

AWD330XI........As far as a daily driver goes, which would you rather drive everyday? Are you joking?

So enjoy your current chariott and save up for the next ///M3. 400hp, 4.0 V8. New desing in 06, reaches the States few years later.
I disagree. Buy it now if you can afford it. You could be dead in 2006+ and never had experienced the thrill of the ultimate Ultimate Driving Machine.

wow, a 2004 and already thinking of trading up. wish I could do that.

oh, and I vote M3. But I'm young (sorta) and I'm telling myself my body can still take the harsher ride of the M3.

what kind of upgrade are you expecting going from a 330xi to a zhp? i dun think it's worth it to do that, then again, it sounds like you got money to throw around.

starting w/ the 06, you'd be getting a M4.. which will be the coupe, unless you want the 06 m3 sedan. question would be would you want a fast sedan or a fast coupe. if you want a M sedan, wait and get the 06 M3.

zhp is nice, and isn't all that harsh for everyday driving.. but can you really compare an m car? i still want one!! well, i guess i'll save up and get the next gen M5.. (i should have nuff money by then right? sur hope so..)

If you wanna trade up get the 645i you'll feel the difference, and you'll be happy especially if you don't really need the backseat.

what the hell is ZHP ?
The short designation for the 330i Performance Package... It gets some M stuff and boosted from 225hp to 235hp which happens to shave a second off it's 0-60 time and it's top speed is ungoverned from 128 to 155.
