I think on average, it will be more toward Honda reliability. There are a few stinkers in there but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule. Free maintenance helps.
Bottom line is you have to decide what you want. If you absolutely need 100% reliability in a commuter or something then you cannot beat Honda/Toyota/Nissan or their luxury brands. BMW is different, though. It's more of a performance machine for a little bit more than average price.
