power window problem...

I noticed the other day while cleaning the windows that the automatic-up feature wasn't working on the power windows, though it auto-down'ed just fine. Now, I'm not totally sure BMWs have this, I could just be mistaking the feature with my other car (a toyota), but i'm pretty sure that when I pulled the window button up two clicks, it used to roll all the way up by itself. Does anyone know if this is an easily fixable problem? I thought maybe it could be an individual button, but all of the switches had the same problem.

I've got a 2002 325i if that helps... Any advice would be awesome! [:D]

My 2003 330Ci power windows have auto-up AND auto-down for both driver and passenger windows, and auto-open only for the rear windows (likely a child safety feature).

William is right, the NA versions do not get the auto rollup in the rear simply because of child safety laws.

aloha braddah , to use the auto-up on the fronts you just pull the switch once . You'll feel it pass the click when pulling. I've noticed the other day that it doesn't work the my door open and ignition off..

oh and you can go to your profile and add what kind of ride you have so you won't need to post it everytime . take care

Same reason, from what I understand. Considering that the child's seat is supposed to be in the back, it's rather hard to see if they have their fingers in the quarter window, so no auto closing is permitted.

power window problem

I delivered my car to Pacific BMW yesterday reporting among other problems that my passenger side front window one-touch up feature was not working. The one-touch down is working fine.

Just got a call from the SA advising me that on my car, the passenger window DOES NOT HAVE A ONE-TOUCH UP feature! My car is a 2004 330Ci convertible with fewer than 2000 miles. I cannot swear to it, but I am pretty sure it HAD a one-touch up feature before. certainly every other BMW on the planet seems to have this, so I'm not sure why the 04 cab's don't. Can any of you other 330 CIC owners out there check on this and let me know whether it works on yours or not?

FYI I also pulled the specs off BMWUSA.COM and it states: "Power front windows with "one-touch" up/dpwn operation"

Thanks

Can't retrofit the autoups for the rears easily either. Stupid lawsuit infatuated country. Judges need to grow some balls and start tossing stupid cases and handing out sanctions. And lets kill those American Trial Lawyers Association lobbyists while we're at it. ACLU and orgs like that protect the little people just fine.

I always wondered why that was the case! It's a pain in the butt to have to manually close the suckers - you either need to twist your neck as you're doing it to know when they're up, or not turn around and keep your finger on the button for an extended time just to be sure they're all the way up.

All I do is glance in my side mirrors and it's easy to see if they are closed all the way. This works better in the daytime than at night of course......

BTW every '04 Ci (can't speak for other years) has the autoup-autodown on the driver and pass windows......

Why do the converts not have the autoup pass window???????[?|] [?|] [?|]

Or is that SA blowing smoke?

I can only speak for the convertible........but the passenger side window DOES NOT have an automatic "UP", only automatically "DOWN." My dealership and I have had this conversation as well..........

When any of my windows are down besides the drivers window, I just hold the all windows up button so I'm never guessing.............

power window on convertibles

First of all let me say I find it bizarre that BMW should treat the power window features differently on convertibles versus any other car.

Next I want to point out on page 40 of the BMW owners manual for 3-series convertibles (north america):

"... The windows on the passenger side and the rear windows do not close automatically.

The window on the passenger side closes automatically in ignition key position 2 only."

So let me get this straight -- under normal circumstances it doesn't allow the window to function automatically, but with the key in a certain position it does??

As a matter of fact, however, I just went and checked mine and it doesn't close automatically under any circumstance or key position, despit the fact that the window switch IS an automatic up/down switch.

Can you other converts out there check on this and report back in? Thanks
