A few Quotes from my friend Bob, who runs a top notch, state of the art Auto Body shop in New York.
"I would stay away from them at all costs... They are by far the most difficult car to make right after an accident...they are still making cars with 80's technology"

This is a guy I trust, who has done flawless work for me.

bmwcoupedriver, every time somebody brings up another car, all you can do is find a reason to hate on it. So if a car isn't a BMW, it's just a horrible car, huh?
Oh yeah, and did you know that BMW engines aren't exactly that up to par, either? They still use old engine technology, that's why you still have to deal with hydro-carbons...for all other engines on the market, hydrocarbons is a thing of the past.

You seem to know SO much about me...

Please tell me what other cars I "HATE".

SAAB makes unusual but unrefined cars that can not even compare to a BMW. Are BMW's "The Only Car" NO, but they are certainly AMONG the best. SAAB's simply are not.

My opinion is based on driving a friends 2002 9-3 from NYC to Avon By the Sea NJ... And the VERY valid opinion of a friend who re-constructs and restores cars for a living for the past 25 years.

As for BMW engines, the 3.0 straight 6 is one of the most highly regarded engines still in production.

For someone who drives a G35 and feels the need to defend SAAB AS IF you own one... what are you doing on a site devoted to BMW's?

You said bad things about Audi (thread was called "audi opinions") and you said bad things about the G35 (one person was trying to decide, asking for advice), now you're saying bad things about Saab. You sure talk a lot of trash for any car that isn't a BMW.
I never said the 3.0L I6 is a bad engine (it really is such a sweet engine), I was just commenting how you claimed Saab uses such old technology, but BMW isn't exactly top of the game, either.
I just think you should have some more respect for other cars on the road instead of being such a pathetic BMW fanboy.
And for someone with 19 posts questioning my presence here (having 1,850+ posts) is just stupid.

Thats right, I have only posted 19 times. I see no reason to post uninformed opinions about cars that I have not driven, or that a close friend owns and offers theirs to me.

To think that I actually WAITED to post anything about or related to the 330ci until I actually OWNED one and had some questions or problems...Sheeesh!

And once again..Do you take cars apart for a living as my friend does and have to deal with SAAB's stupid design decisions on a daily basis? His would also count as an INFORMED opinion. He also does work for a nearby Audi dealership, by the way.

I have plenty of POSITIVE opinions about other cars, (The Boxter S for instance) but why post them until there is a reason to?

Lastly, As for me being a PATHETIC BMW "FanBOY" I am a man, almost twice your age in fact. This site (the last time I looked) was called BMWBOARD. I would assume, as any literate person might, that you would find (mostly) BMW enthusiasts looking to share useful information.

Obviously, you are free to opine (uninformed or otherwise) all you want, but remember (and this applies to many things)...Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.

bmwcoupedriver, I actually easily know more about your BMW and all the other BMW's than you could possibly imagine.
Take a look at this:
http://www.iihs.org/news_releases/2003/pr090703.htm
I'm happy to report that the Infiniti G35 (Sedan) and Mercedes E-Class cost significantly more money to repair after 5mph accidents involving the bumpers.
And age has nothing to do with being a BMW fanboy, and it's not really so bad to be a BMW fanboy because BMW really does make such great cars, I just hate the BMW fanboys who think every other car out there is nothing compared to their BMW, such as BMW fanboys as yourself. You guys never take into account that a BMW always comes with a premium price and not everybody is willing/is able to pay the premium price, and you act as if it was never there. As if a Saab 9-3 is the same price, or even close in price, of a 330Ci....a fully-loaded Saab 9-3 is like $35,000 and a fully-loaded BMW 330Ci is about $45,000. They are in two completely different price ranges.

I don't know why I am bothering but...
Do you think you are the only one who has ever combed the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety website?
I have been interested in car safety and crash tests ever since I first saw Volvo's commercials in the late 1970's which showed their cars being crashed into a wall. In those days you had to write to the NTSB to ask for crash test results, or read Consumer Reports who had just started reporting the very few made public.
When I talk about ease of repair, I am talking about a serious accident with structural damage... not just a bumper.

My first Experience owning a BMW was an underpowered bare-bones 1984 E30 318i, reposessed by the leasing company I worked for while in school. Since I used the car for work (paying for and inspecting customers vehicles) I paid only 1/2 the cost of the lease and got my gas for free. There was just something about that car, flawed as it was, and I never forgot it....which is why I own one today and pride myself in knowing as much as possible about anything I am interested in.

But there is always more for EVERYONE to learn...something which you do not yet have the maturity to admit.

Exactly what is your point here? I am accusing you of being a pathetic BMW fanboy who thinks most other cars on the road are not worth it...I'm sorry, but I just have to call you out on that. There are lots of cars out there that are great cars alone, or great alternatives to BMW. Just because a car is expensive to repair in a major accident, it doesn't mean it's not worth buying...I see a lot of the new Saab 9-3's on the road and they are real sharp cars and I'm sure their owners are very happy with them, whether they know their cars are difficult and expensive to repair or not.
Hell, when I read this report about the G35 Sedan being the most expensive to repair in a 5mph bumper crash, it didn't phaise me one bit. I know they tested the G35 Sedan and I have the Coupe, but I'm sure my Coupe costs a similar amount to repair and I honestly could care less. None of us are out to get into an accident or bump into a pole at 5mph, and the better we treat our cars, the better chance we have of avoiding a situation such as that.

I have to chime in on a personal experience here, well, my bosse's actually. He smacked up his 9-3 twice. The first time was minor 'offroad' ride that blew 3 tires and damaged the wheels. The car developed handling problems after that. They had difficulty in correcting it.

The 2nd wreck took him off the road due to an ice patch. It took quite a bit of time to get it repaired, and it went back several times until he was satisfied.

Several weeks ago it lost ALL ignition power - just died - and smelled burned under the hood.

Now these things can happen to any car, couda been the dealer, but it seems to happen to his Saab all the time.

my experience with Saab has been great customer service yet when you sit inside the car all you realize is CHEAP and OVERPRICED...The interior was literally appauling for the price ;however, the exterior was nice but not BMW standard :) Btw, I test drove a base model 9-3 and it was $33,000..... I have to admit, though...the Saab key owns the BMW key. [:p]
Got any pictures? I'm not too fond of the BMW key, although it's cooler than say an Infiniti key. Infiniti just uses the Nissan one. My friend has an Altima and his sister has a G35. I can't tell their keys apart unless you check the logo stamped lightly into the rubber.

No, Saab's are not overpriced. They are like $34K fully-loaded so I don't think they are overpriced for what you get. But I think for $34K-$35K, I would rather ge the Lexus IS300. I don't know what it is about the IS300, but I just love it so much.
