I just bought Sirius for $285.00. [:D] My buddy works in the parts department for a BMW dealer and he was able to order it for me at cost. There's only one problem, I'll have to do the install myself. From what I've heard it shouldn't be that difficult. I'll try to put together a DIY file and post it when I'm done.

An update on the Sirius install.......

I did the installation myself last night and it only took me about an hour to complete, including the activation. The installation was sooooo easy! I really think anybody with half a brain could do it.

I decided not to mount the antenna on the exterior of the car because I wasn't too crazy about having an antenna mounted on my trunklid. Yep, BMW recommends that the antenna (which is a round, flat, black and about the size of a flattened golf ball) be installed right in the center of the trunklid!! [confused] I read somewhere on this board that others have installed the antenna on the inside, so I decided to give it a shot and mounted my antenna on the rear deck instead. It's barely noticible there and in my opinion its a much better way to install the antenna.

As for the quality of the reception with the antenna mounted on the inside, I drove around all night and I only lost the signal once and that was because I went under an overpass.

I'll try to post some pictures of the antenna mounted on the rear deck when I get a chance.

Got the Sirius, paid something like $750 including the first year subscription. Probably too much, but I was tired of haggling over the trade-in, the price of the new car...
Imagine my surprise when I went to pick up the car and saw this black thing on the trunk. No other choice they said on a convertible. I'd rather have it on the windshield. However, I don't see it and I love the choices it offers. I hope Sirius can pick up more subscribers, as XM is way ahead as noted above. Since it's integrated with the in-dash radio, you get 3 sets of presets for a total of 18. However, I'm still thinking about the trunk mounted Alpine CD/MP3 player. Check out Sirius' website--they have a list of all of their stations. You can also listen on your computer over the internet if you are a subscriber and I also think they're on one of the satellite TV systems.
