congrats on gettin the plug out, but does anyone know how well the platinums work in bimmers? i tried them in my 944 and they were gone in 5k. the electrodes in the middle are too small and they burned away into the insulator.
I have platinums and they are doing well.

I used the Bosch platinum plus 4 in my 1989 325i with good results. I had them in for over 35K miles and they were still good but the car got totaled and that's how I wound up with a 2004 330i.

After a few days with them in, the platinum 2s seem to be doing their job well. Any "performance" aspects are probably just placebo effect, but the idle is a bit smother. As for torque, I don't have a torque wrench (yet) but I hand threaded them with the socket attachment.

I am wondering if it is not cross threaded but someone failed to use anitseize? I am not sure what to do but lubricating the threads cannot hurt. Be gentle and allow the lubricant to work if it will. Anyone else?
You know...when i did my plugs last summer, I didn't use the recommended anti-seize. What are the chances they will be all that bad? Or do I need to sell the car before I get to 200,000. LOL. No, seriously, should I take them out this summer and put the spray on em or is it too late?

I would remove them and apply anti-seize. I got the stuff in a tube, kind of like a crayon, and you just rub it on the threads. I have seen many an aluminum head stripped because someone forgot the anti-seize.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but do all E30s have a cast-iron block and head?
No, the M42 motor in the 91 318is is a chilled-cast aluminium alloy 16 valve twin cam head is a classic pentroofed design with the spark plug centred between the valves (with a relationship to the M1, M5 and M635CSi engines). The combustion chamber is bi-concave. The top of the rocker cover has a liquid/vapour seperator to reduce oil consumption.

I am not positive but I believe all e30 M cars also have aluminium heads.
