Spied! Prior to his "promotion," Chris Bangle had been working on an angular flame-surfaced, larger nosed, 3-series like this one caught resting here. Sources quote successor Adrian van Hooydonk as saying, "a midlife re-freshening is due prior to release."

If anything needs flame-surfacing, it's Bungle's butt! [?|]
That's my point. I'm just waiting on pins and needles for what they might do to ruin the reigning king. Then again, if they mess it up...it will only make my car even more of a classic.

Wow... that's quite an accident. (hopefully that's not what people will be saying when they see the new 3 series next year -- LOL!).

But, seriously, I think Chris Bangle is getting "flamed" a little too much for the latest BMW designs. We should all know that BMW is not run by Bangle. If we should be mad (or disappointed) in anyone, it should be the management team that approved his designs in the first place.

designers by nature are a couple years ahead of the general public. i have a friend who is a designer for gm, that told me that fx45 was his fav design. from that point, it took me 6 mos to actually appreciate the aesthetics of the the fx.

sadly he now favors the new dodge magnum. which i think looks like the model next up to replace the traditional hers...

i partially agree w/ thebry. design/ approval is like an egg and the chicken debate. who's fault was it that they made the aztek? both, for dumb designers picking that design, and for mgmt for actually approving it. if crap isn't proposed, crap won't be made.

luckily unlike the aztek, the banglized 7 and the 5er are growing on me more and more as each day passes. amazing how the e60 makes the e39s look dated.. that said i still like the e39 styling better.. at least until the m5 comes out..

I don't know...I sometimes see the E39 come up on me from front, behind, and on the side. I always find myself straining to check it out. It's such a classic; it just looks great from all angles without any of the wierd whacky wrong lines.
