I dont know why people want the altezza lights on non altezzas. After the IS300 came out it seemed that everyone and their mother put those lights on their cars, and even trucks. I used to think it looked so cheezy. To put it on a BMW I think it would look even chessier. I dont know if it's because I think the BMW e46 is such a great design, I love it down to almost every detail, including the lights, but I would never do it. Its like when I see those hondas with a bmw z3 bumper, grill and headlights conversion. Why would you try to make your car look like another car. At least in the honda's case I can understand it wants to look like a bimmer, but it's beyond me why a bimmer would want to look like anything else. Just my two cents.

I LIKE THE ALTEZZA LOOK. But I have seen some cheap Altezza type imitations on various cars, and I they can look exactly that... cheap. The nice example that I have seen on a BMW was on a prior 2003 M3 at the Import Night Auto Show, and in my opinion it looked pretty darn sharp. This one that I saw was not a bright clear-faced taillight like most Altezza’s are. This one was tastefully done with slightly smoked dark accents. I do believe MrE referred to this one that he found on ebay. Unfortunately the one’s I found are for prior 2003 sedan models. Closest I found was for a 2003 coupe.

Everyone’s opinion should be respected. Some of the opinions that I heard were very frank and further elaborated as to why they like or dislike it. This is okay by me. Although I do not condone one of the counter responses, but I must say I can sympathize to his response. Because the comment “it look like s#*@!” was a bit too harsh, and I to was taken aback as well. Never the less I still welcome everyone’s comments, opinions, and/or suggestions. All I request from my fellow beamers is to keep it civilized. I do enjoy visiting this bmwboard every so often to gain some tips and words of wisdom.

My question was “where can I get a set”. Perhaps it’s not in the market yet for a 2003 e46 sedan.

If you like the Altezza look, then go for it. The only person that has to approve of them and like them is YOU, because it's your car. Everybody has their own opinion...if you like Altezza lights for the E46, then get them, if not, then don't.

A guy in my apt. complex has them on his M3 and they look fine because they're not cheap quality. However, sometimes I can't tell if its a bmw because it looks different...but if this is what your heart wants then do it because you will regret it in the future.
