I just bought a 2005 325i and the stock wipers are the best I have ever seen. With my previous car, a Honda Prelude, I tried aftermarket wipers and went back to Honda parts later. The cheap ones were noisy and didn't get the rain off.

I can suggest wipers NOT to buy - I recently replaced the ANCO wipers that were on my car when I bought it with Bosch MicroEdge wipers. The Bosch wipers totally SUCK!!!! They do a much worse job clearing the water than the old ANCOs I replaced.

I bought the Bosch Micro Edge but I'm not satisfied. They do not stick to the glass well.

Have you seen those new fully rubbered wipers they use on most new higher class cars?

I'm going to get those. Bosch makes them also but I'm getting Valeo. $39 a piece for my car.
tirerack.com has them.

meh

My stock wipers were pretty crappy they just ended up smearing water all over the windshield. I just ran down to autozone and got myself 2 rainX wipers for about $8 each, they work quite well.

My parents' cars use the Valeo wiper blades. They work amazingly well, but I have a hard time justifying $80 for a pair of wiper blades, especially since they can be stolen in the blink of an eye.

I use OEM stock wipers.

If you want to double or triple your wiper blade lifespan, buy Rain-X product, and apply it evey 2-3months on your winshield. You will not believe the results. Raindrops literally explode and slide off your windshield. For light rainfall, you don't need to use your wipers anymore. [ohcrap]

There is also an excellent product I use called wiper blade restore or something. It comes in a small bottle, and it's a liquid that you apply on your blades with a paper towel. Very easy to use. Your wiper blades are like new and no more smearing! [:D]

[thumb] If it's not too late to chime in... I changed out my factory equipment wipers for the PIAA Super Silicone Wiper blades with integrated wind deflectors; 22" Left, 20" Right Carbon Fibers. The blades lubricate my windscreen with every pass causing the rain to be reduced to fine beads on the windshield. The initial set lasted three years and I just ordered a new set this afternoon. Just a side note, that three years is approximately 100,000 miles of driving in all conditions that the Mid-Atlantic States can throw at a vehicle. I drive my bimmer year-round, rain, sleet, heat, ice, fog and snow. They are an excellent product although slightly costly at 26.95 for the right blade and 26.95 for the left blade. That's my two and a half cents worth... Happy Motoring... [driving2]

Yeah Splinter, Zchild is right. I wouldn't even consider paying the extra money for the OEM wipers. PIAA's Super Silicone Wipers have received a lot of praise by motorists. I use them on both of my vehicles and absolutely no complaints. About using Rain-X in conjunction with your original wipers, there's no need to with PIAA. I definitely recommend this product to everyone. You can also purchase these at www.tirerack.com Hope to hear you had excellent results.

I will definitely give these a try. PIAA seem to have engineered something very interesting!

They are sort of mimicking what Rain-X are doing, without the required effort.

Those PIAA's sound pretty slick. But, I've always found the stock BMW ones to be really good. I think part of it is keeping your window clean. I recently did my aunt's X5, which was SOOO SOO bad. There was a thick film of sap and road crud over her entire front windshield. When it would rain the water would just spread out and visiblity was aweful. Her idea of getting the car extra clean and protected is to pay a few extra bucks for the DuPont Deflon goop at the machine wash. (Who knows, maybe that was part of the crud on her windwhield.)

Anway, I used ClearGlass and newspaper a few times to get it clean, then did two coats of RainX Window Wax (not so much for the beading properties, which I think disappears very quickly, but for the extra cleaning). Now her old stock BMW blades are like SUPER DUPER blades.

The window just needed to be thoroughly cleaned.

I use rubbing alcohol to get windshield squeaky clean prior to using Rain-X. It's a lot of work ( elbow grease) putting on the Rain-X liquid, but what an amazing result! I just finished cleaning and drying my baby today. I think I have just found the next pampering treatment "she" is going to get. [bmwdance]

I just put the Rain-X wipers on my '87. They work great. Absolutely silent, no streaks, and no "skipped" areas. The Bosch Microedges I had skipped several large areas on the passenger side of the windshield and were noisy and streaky.

Got em at Walmart for like $9 a piece.
