Got the Sirius in my '04 BMW and love it, despite the antenna on the trunk. Almost never listen to CD's or FM. 18 presets. Great sound. Got a Sportster for my son (he doesn't know it yet) so he can listen to NFL games.

BTW, Stern's going to Sirius.

I'm not trying to kill Sirius... in fact, I've decided to get it... but I also read the Sirius annual report (available on their web site)... they may not last as a company... and then the equipment is worthless... and lifetime service is meaningless.
If Sirius would fail, it's highly likely that the assets would be bought for pennies on the dollar, and it would continue operating under new ownership. That's exactly what happened to the Iridium Satellite phone system.

Once the startup debt is "retired" by bankruptcy, and the shareholders. etc. take the beating, someone could make a profit with the assets. The equipment would still be functional, you would just have to pay the fee to a new company, and lose your lifetime subscription if you had one.

i just want to know, does Sirius have good stations...i mean i listen to KROQ and i like the music they play, and if i get sirius, can i hit a station and listen to the same type of music i listen to on kroq without commercials...i mean if i have to keep switching stations to find a good song i might as well stay with free radio and listen to the commercials...

eh, i did "radio should be free" as neither.

i can't stand the majority of music played on the radio and i've used to XM for a week or so and it wasn't much better.

CDs and Mp3 players is how i listen to music.

I got XM when it first came out, I like a lot. I have an aftermarket head unit the I can move from my stereo in my house and use it through my tape deck in my bimmer. I have never tried or even listened to Sirius.

I had Sirius in my E90 330i and in the 2006 Range Rover. Reception was pretty awful in the BMW, but surprisingly great in the Rover (the one thing that did work well :)

I now have XM in my A6, and while reception is amazing, and I actually really like the programming choices....I HATE the commercials. Not every channel has them, but sadly, some of my favourites do. I have complained to XM in writing, and on the phone...and they couldn't care less. So IMO, Sirius is better for no commericals, and XM has great reception.

Sirius

I recently converted to Sirius from XM. I had an issue with XM on one of my accounts (I had 4) and they wanted to turn off all of the units when 1 unit had not been paid for. I never received notification from them. I contacted their "Customer Retention" unit and could not believe their rationale for turnong all the receivers off. Especially after I had just added a 3 year subscription 2 months earlier. I got so mad, I told them I was going to Sirius and to cancel ALL of my units. Needless to say, they did not care. Sirius was very easy to get started where XM took multiple calls to get started.

Now that I'm back to BMW, I have Sirius. While I LOVE not having the commercials that XM has (why pay for satellite radio, if you have to hear tons of commercials?), the XM reception was SO much better. I still think Sirius is better, just due to the fact that I love my 1st Wave (80's Euro), 90's hard alternative and Alternative Nation!
