How the hell can the ci and the i have the same weight? That just doesnt make sense.

luvdatbimmer, you could have always got a RWD model and put some great snow tires on it. Handling is pretty much the same, I wouldn't want to sacrifice the control of RWD when the winter is over.
Not sure why but the weight is the same according to BMW. It may have a different support structure. The cic is 400 lbs more because of this.

I just read the brochures for both and they are the same weight. Check the pdf brochure link at bmwusa.com. The only difference is .01 less drag for the i, other than that they appear identical.

The 325ci does weight less though.

i'm telling you guys.. the ci is heavier than the i and therefore it is slower. The Ci's chassis is heavier. I raced many ci's and beat them easily, soon as i hit second gear i can wave bye bye to them.
This is the truth, sorry ci owners.

In Australia the Ci is quoted by BMW as being 0.4sec quicker than the i..also in Australia you cannot get the i in manual....I think that is why the ci is quoted as a quicker car, cos you can buy a manual version....(all other things being equal a manual car will generally be quicker over a 1/4 mile due to less power loss at transmission.) In any case the weight by which you refer is probably the difference between a heavy adult and a light adult...negligable.

The Ci will be a better 'sports car' due to less body flex (less doors) itsits lower naturally, and is muuuurrch better looking than the 4dr...sorry i owners...[:D]

It's a known fact that the i can handle better than the ci because it's lighter. I have the i (stock 231hp) and my friend has a ci (stock 231hp) we raced and I beat him easily and on tight turns, i can take them better and trust me, we are both good drivers.

I raced alot of other ci's and cic's too and beat them easily. (Remember, stock HP for all 330's here is 231HP)

So called street 'racing' of other models and claiming victory is highly subjective and prone to error based on many factors, not least individual drivers' motivation, ability, response time, etc. Best you can do is to go by the manufactorer's specifications.

All non-ZHP 330 models have the same engine in the same state of tune, which is 170 kW or 231 hp. The fact that the 330ci is 35 kg lighter than the 330i means that it will be quicker to 100 km/h or 62 mph (provided of course that they have the same transmission type & gearing too).

I think they are the same car and whatever differences there are in testing is due to other factors. I think it is whatever fits a persons needs is all that make them different.

Also, it is the 325ci that is the lighter car, not the 330. Please tell me where all of you are getting that the 330ci is lighter. The pdf brochures at bmwusa.com has them as the same.

OK, so tell me...why is someone who likes racing so much in a 4dr family car with automatic transmission??? I think you should buy the station wagon and be done with it....

2dr manual says sports, and combines all skills necessary to really enjoy your driving...4dr auto says ...well you know.....

And as far as looks go, well simply take a look at re-sale. In this country at least the i is in car yards everywhere...when 2 dr's hit the market they attract a healthy premium and sell very quickly...still lets leave it there and agree to disagree.

hehe....

Yea, BMW sedans sure suck don't they. As does MB, and Audi. I mean, why have the ideal in European performance when you can get a 105 HP Hyundai Tiburon, those look so much faster so I guess they must be. [8] [:o)]

This whole ci, i thing is too much.

1. They are the same car!

2. Anyone that knows ANYTHING about BMW is aware of the weight distribution. They are not just going to take 150-200 out from the rear wheel area, then it becomes a FORD.

3. It depends on what you need.

4. A coupe is not always faster! Stickers do not ad HP. A Honda Civic coupe WILL NOT beat an Audi sedan because it is a coupe!

5. A ci IS NOT an M3!

Ok, lets agree on one thing...neither the i or the ci is a car that is suited to racing...frankly they are to soft and compared to true hi performance cars... well black330 good luck!! Also I must extend my aplogies Black330 clearly BMW export a different version of the 330i to the Middle East.....ooohh, and then he woke up...

At least the Ci looks like an M3 (or at least more so than an i) hehe....... BTW, I owned an audi sedan...what a gutless heap of troublesome &^*%ap that car was!! Never again..

In any case, surely we have had some fun the last few days...a little bit of healthy banter can't be all bad.....unless you take yourself (and your ride) a little to seriously?? Hope your headache clears up soon Bryan.....
