DSC Performance Gain

I don't think disabling DSC will give you a whole second quicker 0-60 time. DSC is constantly monitoring your car, but it will only interfere if you get wheelspin. If you have an auto tranny BMW, I would not even think about turning DSC off. Auto transmissions shift so smoothly (even at redline) that there just isn't any 1-2 wheelspin...at least that has been my experience with a 325i Sport Auto...which means DSC won't interfere to slow you down.
E30freak, if you've ever driven a newer BMW with the Steptronic automatic transmission or basically any other nice new car with an auto, you will see that new auto transmissions are really great. They shift very quickly, they are super smooth, and easier to drive than stick shift. I live in Northern NJ and go to school in Long Island, so I constantly deal with traffic during the week. I still prefer stick shift over auto, but if traffic ever gets SO bad that I just couldn't deal with stick shift anymore, it's nice to know there is a really nice automatic transmission waiting for me.
Although I personally hope that I am rowing my own gears for the rest of my life.

By switching off DSC you allow the rear wheels to spin without computer interaction, a little wheelspin is good when accelarating because it helps keep engine revs up.

don't get me wrong. i'm aware that the BMW auto trannys are superior to that of most other. all i'm saying is i would never, under any circumstances (remember seattle's ranked #2 for crappy traffic in the nation) give up my clutch. it just feels too right.

If you were to turn off DSC completely. And you wanna race from light to light and you hold brake and rev up to... maybe 3000? DSC off will give you that push in the beginning, however if its on then the tires will skid and the car will accelerate slower (trust me iv tried both)

If you wanted a racing car then you shouldn't have emptied your bankaccount or skipped lunch so you can pay the special lease price and get the cheapest BMW for sale, you should have bought a riced out integra. Sweet jesus..................

now, i don't have any credentials..i've never even been in a car with DSC or ACB or ABC OR XYZ or any of these fancy whatever the hell they are. but it seems to me that if DSC LIMITS POWER TO THE WHEELS...i mean jebus lord. you just screwed your on credibility. i don't know what you meant but this is how it sounds to me, and probably "us." "why would taking power away slow you down?" sounds like an elementary physics class to me. perhaps i'm reading it wrong, in which case i apologize profusely. however, if i read it correctly

I think what he means is, it cuts off the tranny from giving power to the wheels. I have experienced that, it not only applies the brakes but it doesn't let the car accelerate quickly, either that or theres something wrong with gear engagement on the tranny, something I have suspected for a while...... But it doesn't matter anyway.
