I have done regular bursts of 100 to 115 for one or two mile stretches (when i can see that there are no patrol cars lurking) of straight highway. I Dont even get excited by the speed anymore - the car is so routine at doing that speed, it just feels like your speeding up for a lane change.

My only comment about bmw handling is: most distinctive features are the lack of body roll
and the car's center of gravity. The sensation of the car turning is very different as it turns
around a central point of rotation thats located just behind the driver.
Love the car. Hate the prices for service. And will soon trade up for more horses LOL!

I like 100-110 [thumb] Too much fun. But I don't think my car will ever hit the 155-159 max, thats just too fast for most conditions. [rolleyes]

Just as a matter of interest, I decided to floor my steptronic in Sport mode yesterday from a rolling start in second gear.

What a rush it was. everyone needs to try it as it's insanely cool how perfectly controlled the tranny is.
Did that a lot at the BMW Driving School, not only in the 330i, but the Z4 3.0, X5 4.4i, and 760Li (in D - don't think it has a Sport mode). Definitely a rush and a half!

Didn't I already tell you how jealous I was of you Coins? [:D]

So how was the 760Li? That is my dream car. I sat in one on the dealership showroom floor and was amazed at the size of the beast and the comfort and ergonomics inside (and the pricetag). Although I am sure it is worth every penny. I read about it many places online and am fascinated by the technology built into it.

I think I would be scared to death to park it anywhere (but my garage) if I had one.

For a luxury sedan it's handling was surprisingly nimble. It had that BMW feel to it, especially in tight turns or slalom manuveurs, with no body roll whatsoever at speeds of 35-40. Even though I only did two laps with it, I was impressed. I think it would be fun to drive in town and would make an ideal car to take cross-country. To start it, you insert a card key in its slot, put your foot on the brake, and push the start button. The V-12 sounds really cool and it accelerates quite well, as might be expected. Talk about smooth power. The interior was really nice, but the I-Drive would take some getting used to. If I had $115K to spend on a car and was in the market for a full-size luxury sedan (and could afford the insurance and property tax), the 760Li would definitely be at the top my the list.

Hope you get a chance to drive one someday. [thumb]

Eh, I think BMW is charging too much for the 760Li. For ~$120K super luxury sedan, I would rather put my money into an S55 AMG or S600. The new 7-series has no aggression to it at all, especially from the back...it looks like a spaceship or something.

Talk about a boring design, the S600 (or S500 for that matter) looks like an old man car from the front or rear. Reminds me of a Toyota Avalon or an LS430, both grandpa cars. Sure the interior is luxurious, but I would take the interior of the 760Li over the Benz any day.
