sweet car and I definitely think its worth it but I might go used at ebay. I just dont see a hartop thats worth 2600, then again it may be a good investment in the long run. Can you still use your cloth top?

Yes - the hardtop is on top of the soft-top, so as soon as you take the hardtop off, the soft-top is fully functional.

The price is steep, but you get auto interior lights and a funtional rear window defrost, the inside headliner is very nicely finished and the paint is the baked enamal which comes straight from the factory.....its the real deal if its worth it to you, we get so much rain here & I am not a big fan of the accordian look on soft tops.

Good luck !

When the hardtop is on, the soft top is in the down position. So you can't 'use' the soft top if the hardtop is on, you have to remove the hardtop so the soft top can be raised. But to put the hardtop on, you don't have to do anything else besides lowering the soft top and remove 2 small cover plates.

Is it worth $2600? Well. since I bought one I must have thought it was worth it [:D] . Although the car stays garaged and isn't driven in snowy/salty/extreme cold conditions, I feel that the hardtop will prolong the life of the soft top, helping to pay for itself. If the car isn't garaged, then to me the hardtop makes even more sense, because you can protect it during the cool months from sun, wind and road wear and tear. Of course, if you live somewhere that it is 365 days of topless weather, it might be less desirable.

i'm not a convert owner, but i'd imagine having hte hard top in place, you'd lose more trunk space. wonder how it'd look if you got a different color top, say black top on a silver car or a black top on a red car. [:D] works w/ cloth so why not w/ hard top?

Here's some 3/4 front and rear shots from my Euro Delivery trip. The first one is on the border of Austria and Germany, the second is in Oberammergau in Bavaria.

When the soft top is down, you lose a little trunk space since you can't collapse the storage compartment. But how many people actually bother with that anyhow?

You lose exactly the same amount of space you lose when the soft top is down, no more.

Unless you are filling it with suitcases for a trip to the airport, it's not even noticible.

I agree that somehow it looks different and better than the 330ci coupe. But I can't figure out exactly WHAT is different.

It's about 60 degrees here today (should be about 35 - 40), saw a Muskrat convertible with the top down. Thought about pulling the hardtop for a few days, but it is supposedly getting real cold next week (highs of only 25 or so, lows down to 6!), so I'll just wait for spring.

I love the look of the 3 convert with a hardtop on. However the only thing that is really keeping me from buying one is, you know when you leave your top down for say two days straight and then you put it up and you have those awful creases that almost look like fade marks. I get them after such short amounts of time that I can't even imagine what the top would look like after being in the "down" position for 3 months. The hardtop would ultimately protect the softop from the winter, but I am just afraid that it will look more "aged" when it goes back up after the winter. Do you guys know what I am talking about? Anyone who has been through a winter with a hardtop, what does your softop look like when it goes back up? Thanks.

Yup, I know what you mean about the creases. When I take off the hardtop in April, I'll try to remember to look for the creases and take some pics.
