Great choice. Probably won't miss the Caddy. Have you tried putting the top down with the key remote?? rock on in ur new bimmer [headbang]
Can you use the key (remotely) to put the top down? I thought we couldn't do that in the states.

That's how it was in Wash. State until the petition started circulating. Someone every once-in-a-while would get a ticket, but in a whole it wasn't monitored much, but now they are actually watching for it. I reluctantly (nagging from wife) put one on the front of the M. Just think how hard that was.

I even made BMW take the bracket back and paint it at their cost. It came unpainted and I told them this should have been already done....

P.S. It us to not be a moving violation either. It was about the same as parking ticket, $50 bucks or so, but now it is a very large fine and points on your record. Really lame...
Ouch. Still just a fix-it ticket here in the People's Republic of California. Sucks you actually drilled into the ///M. I woulda used zip ties and tied it in the air dam or used 3M double sided tape instead of drilling.

We picked up the wife's new 325Ci Conv. today! It's a beauty! She is so very happy with it. [cheers]

Also, both of our cars will drop the top using the remote unlock on the key. However, the top will only go down this way. To go up its either use the button in the car or put the key in the door handle lock, twist, and hold until the top goes up and the windows roll up.

Shit happens...

No biggy really. I don't see removing the plate anytime soon. It's only two very small holes and I can plug them...

1. Probably a safety feature for putting the top up that you have to be standing right at the car so some idiot doesn't manage to get crushed as the top cinches down. Thought you'd like the remote down feature--they seemed to start that sometime during the '04 run. Even my salesguy didn't know.

1b. Friend got new Saab Aero. Top is way faster going down than BMW. Tonneau opens and the top folds down quicker. Jealous, but I'm sure our cars drive better. He also says his Nav system is at least half a block off. [bmwkick]

2. IL requires front plate. I drove for a while without it. One day in Chicago, I saw a meter maid walk around a car without a front plate (turned out to be from out of state), but I'm pretty sure she would have ticketed it for no front plate if it was an IL car. Not worth it; I had the dealer put the plate on since I drive into the city often.

3. Enjoy BOTH new cars!!! [bmwdance]

Do you know if that is something that can be done with a software update?

I had the dealership to wire up the iPod in the glovebox. Works great! Only problem is that the wood trim on the right hand side of the radio seems to be a bit loose now. It pokes out a little bit and I can smash it down with my thumb but it pokes right back up again. Its not too bad, really hardly noticable to anyone else, but it kind of bugs me. I looked at my wifes car and her trim is rock solid against the dash, no play what-so-ever. So... I guess that when they pulled this off in order to pull the radio and install the iPod wire, the trim didn't go back on the same as it was before I had this done. Do you suppose this is something easy to fix? I don't know how to pull the wood trim off without breaking it so I haven't tried to fix this myself yet. Should I?

I would take it back and make them fix it properly. It is a big deal when you spend that kind of money for a car. You never know when/if it will get worst either. All it takes is someone messing around a pull it off or if you are cleaning it and it gets snagged on a rag and it pulls it off. I would make BMW replace it. They should without any questions....

10,000th mile

Well... its been just 5 months since I bought my 330Ci and I have been driving it like crazy. [driving2] I just rolled over 10,000 miles yesterday.

I have to say... this car is awesome!!! [clap] The only problem I have run into is that the iPod seems to get "stuck" from time to time and I have to detach / reattach it from the glove box connector to get it working again. I am sure that this is just a symptom of bugs with what is relatively new technology. Not sure if its a BMW issue or an Apple issue. Either way, its still a lot better to do this quick fix once in a while as opposed to dealing with swapping CDs all the time.

The car itself has developed no problems what-so-ever. I am so pleased with this car! It was well worth the money. The only bad thing is that the weather is starting to get cooler now and soon I won't be able to use the convertible top until the Spring. [:(]

My wife's new 325Ci has been equally as good. No problems at all. Her car only has about 5K miles at this point. She and I both feel certain that our next cars will be BMWs again. Personally, I think I would love to get a convertible 6 series next time around... but that's not going to happen for a while.

I just traded my 2004 Cadillac CTS for a new 2005 BMW 330Ci Convertible. This is my first BMW and I have to say.
Wow!! what a beautiful car. Congratulations to both of you.
I too am in the same shock as you are in. We both love and enjoy in putting nearly a 100 miles a day. Though it worries me to hurt it, I am sure my bimmer is not a bit bothered.

Update

It's been 35K+ miles now and I am happy [:D] to report that my 330ci has continued to be a great car with absolutely no problems. The only issue I have had is that a black car sure it hard to keep clean. [bath] And, it's tough getting the "M" style wheels clean as the grooves are so small and tight. BUT... when it is clean... a black car looks really sharp.

I love driving my car. The weather has finally warmed up and I can use the convertible top again. YEA!!! [bmwdance]

My wife has decided that while she loves her 325ci it really doesn't make a lot of sense to have two convertibles. It would be better to have another vehicle that has more cargo capacity. So, we're working with our local dealership to see about a trade for a 2006 X3. She likes that the interior is very similar to her car and that it isn't a huge SUV. The panoramic sunroof is nice and doesn't create the wind-storm that occurs when we drop the convertible top on the interstate, which she drives everyday to and from work. She doesn't drop the top in her car all that often (it's a hair thing) and so she would probably get more use out of the big sunroof than the convertible anyway.

On the one hand it seems like we made a mistake buying two convertibles. On the other hand, had we not done that then my wife would have probably always wished she had bought one for herself. Now, she's been there and done that, and will probably appreciate the X3 a lot more now than if she had bought it when I had bought my convertible.

I plan to keep my 330ci for a long time. I really like the new hard-top convertible but I'm not going to make the switch. I want to get my money's worth out of the car that I have. Hopefully, we'll end up keeping the X3 a long time too.

One thing is certain, we are both hooked on BMWs. The service we receive from our dealership has been great too!

When you post a message you can add an attachment. Scroll down a bit and you will see a "Manage Attachments" button. If you do not see it, you should see an "Advanced" button, click that. The "Manage Atachments" button will let you upload files from your computer. They need to be smaller than about 40K in size, I forget the exact size. If it is to big it will tell you.

The other option is to put your pics on a site like PhotoBucket and link to them. There is an icon on the post screen that looks like a mountain, it will let you enter a URL to the remote site.
