From the tech articles I have read in Bimmer and the Roundel as well as hearing it from BMW master service techs BMW speedometers are not very accurate at the upper end. It is because in Germany the speedometers are not allowed (by law) to read low as in the US domestic models which can be plus or minus are few mph. The German car speedometers always read about 7% or more high at the upper speeds. The 128 mph limiter is in fact in place unless you have had it reprogramed however it is 155 mph on the M3 and 330i ZHP. In other words do not believe the speedometer at top end. The tires on the ZHP are Y rated (186 mph) but do not expect to reach that speed in one.

143 is fast and smooth, be careful though want you to live and tell about it. NO second chances at that speed, just red droplets.
Right on. Things happen twice as fast, you have 1/2 the reaction time at 140 as compared to 70. Some people don't "get" the difference between 70 mph and 140 mph, so I explain it this way - If you are doing 140 mph and rear end a car, it's exactly the same as hitting a brick wall at 70 mph. Ouch....
