Im going CRAZY here![?|] This is insane, now I am back where I started and WORSE OFF.

I should have NEVER brought the car in to start with, they F***ed up my car and the transmission still slips! Now it revs to 3-4k and then catches scraping my tires and setting dsc off, at this rate by the next two weeks there will be no more thread left. This is an end February installed transmission I thought BMW corrected the damn problem already! Now I have a HANDBRAKE that's loose and was tightened and is loose again, and it locks the rear of the car in Drive and Reverse... again. Not to mention there is a worn out "taxi accelerating sound" from that POS transmission they installed. And now my climate controls blow cold air at me if its set under 72, but VERY HOT air on the windshield vents at any setting. This is all new, is this normal?? And when turning on the fog lights there is a click sound that comes from the passenger side dash, also new (the loaner car they gave me did that too, mine originally didn't, I wonder if they did some rewiring) IMHO they are turning my car more and more into that POS loaner I wrote about. This is after bringing it into them and having a TWO PAGE invoice saying NO PROBLEM FOUND ALL OVER IT. Also (gladly) the engine doesn't seem to be in as crooked as it was before, and a so called "BMWNA engineer" supposedly test drove the car and found nothing wrong with it, I am beyond sure they did under the table work on it for the BMWNA test drive.

So now the car has a slipping transmission that damages my tires and a defective handbrake, along with whacky climate controls to compliment it. What a nice combo! (It slips just like the old one and worse, only now the car has all these NEW problems... I should have never brought it in.)

GOOD GOD I WISH I HAD MY OLD TRANSMISSION BACK!!! Now WTF am I gonna do[V]

So ... it would appear that a few of the replacement trannys don't correct the problem.

If I were you, I'd go right back in to the service manager or the GM and insist on seeing the BMW rep. Nothing less.

Dude, call BMWNA and tell them the problem. Maybe your car qualifies as a lemon by now.
You might as well bang your head into a brick wall. Calling BMW is a total and complete waste of time. Try it sometime. Fabricate a serious problem ... and call them. I guarantee that they will tell you they can't do anything and that you must call your dealer. They might as well just have a recording on the other end.

If BMWNA does not care and the dealers are a bunch of incompetent morons...then what is one to do? Hire a lawyer??
I have learned that the only option is to work this through the dealers. You give them a shot at fixing it. Then, you can also write a letter and send it registered to the President of BMWNA in NJ. But don't waste your time with the agents at the BMW 800 #. One must work the dealership. Ask for the sales manager, the GM ... ask for and demand to see the dealer's BMWNA rep. Tell them you'll answer their followup surveys with very bad ratings if they don't comply. Threaten to call the Better Business Bureau or the state Attorney General's office.

Just my suggestions.

I know,,,,, lets have another poll[rolleyes] or allow others to suggest the faulty clutch patch??
File your complaint with NHTSA and help others avoid your situation.

Every statement of your HAS to be an attack. That's ok ... with every post of yours, you continue to demonstrate to everyone who reads them how hostile you are with no basis in fact behind the hostility. You don't realize it yet, but people can see right through you and you lose more and more credibility with eacy post.

I am sick of this BULLSH*T

Yes there are a few about the same distance away, I am going to give it one last shot over the telephone before I file complaints with the BBB, the nhtsa, consumer advocates groups (multiple), and the media (multiple). Keep in mind this BULLSH*T comes after an incompetent BMWNA "employee" found NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. They will either guarantee that they will fix the problem and reimburse me a months car payment, or buy back the car.

BMW of MANHATTAN IS THE MOST DISGUSTING CAR COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. [:(!]

Whats with the so called "faulty clutch patch" I believe this is what my dealer is going to do to fix my sliptronic. Are their problems with this fix? I seem to remember reading posts that it worked pretty well. Please advise

Your State Consumer Protection Agency will be more effective than Better Buiness Bureau. http://www.consumer.state.ny.us/

NHTSA will send you all the information you need once you file your complaint with them. Especially since they have already opened an investigation.

If you choose the civil litigation route how about naming some of BMW's employees that pose on these boards. Remember to document everything. You standing up might help another after you. Good luck.[wave]

I did call BMWNA and I got nowhere, infact after speaking with the dealer she had an attitude towards me on the telephone, and upon the conclusion of the phone call (I later found out) she put in notes that it ended abruptly or inappropriately (upon calling back, another rep asked me if I had hung up or whatnot) She even said that she isn't sure of what I want done and is unable to assist me, I wanted them to fix the car and the service department to return my calls and face the issue. I guess she couldn't understand english, thereby I am done calling BMWNA; Larry summed them up with one word "useless".

Also the SA told me in a stern way that now BMWNA is getting involved (I was glad, guess it was the wrong reaction from what they expected) and supposedly BMWNA drove the car and found nothing wrong with it, beyond belief....

The list is as follows

1) Worn out taxi sound from drivetrain/trans and cold start slipping trans.
2) Rubber/acid smell from engine when window is open and warmed up.
3) Climate controls which blow very hot air at windshield and top of my head, cold >72 on-dash vents. (New after the "unknown" work done by dealership)
4) When turning on the foglights theres a click from the right of dash...(New after the "unknown" work done by dealership)
5) Seems to be a rattle (something loose) from the right rear of the car, most notable when the car has been shaken after a few bumps...

There isn't any problem with the clutch pack solution. This is where we begin to see that Mr. Car_54 and his supporters are misrepresenting the facts and misleading the readers of this board. Car_54 contends that because the BMW TSB states that the fix for the problem is to replace the entire tranny ... that this means that a clutch pack replacement is "faulty".

You are absolutely correct that there have been some (most, actually) on this board who have reported that the clutch pack fix corrected the problem for them.

So ... what are your options? If you wish to support the contention that no other fix will work, insist on only a new tranny. You'd should be prepared though to justify it when your SA asks you why not the clutch pack and tells you that it's the same fix. Or ... simply ask your SA to explain the fix to you, and what the differences are between the clutch pack replacement and the tranny replacement. If you decide to do this, PLEASE post the results of that discussion to this board so everyone can see what the real facts are.

Good luck.

They replaced the tranny in January. The entire transmission operation is soooo much better than it ever was, even brand new. No hints of slipping at all, very positive engagement at all times. The diagnosis was a clutch seal tolerance problem. Another BMW tech told me it was specifically related to the use of synthetic transmission fluid only in the US.

I'll bet you are counting the days until your M3 shows up!

Donmbmw,

There is nothing wrong with the clutch pack fix... Do not listen to Car_54 he refuses to answer questions or prove his statements that the clutch pack fix is faulty....

I have the fix and many others on the board do also.... Car_54 refuses to answer my questions posted in another thread where he makes the same idiotic statements based in no fact.

Any Replacement Tranny that you get will have the clutch pack fix ( Since this is the issue in the first place) So funny thing is as much as car_54 is against it he will be getting the clutch pack fix either way.

Again,

Car_54 please supply EVIDENCE that the clutch pack fix is faulty... A TSB or BMW document would be great.... You insist on evidence from everyone else.... start showing some yourself.
