Believe it or not my 6 week old 330 CI is ready for the gas station (I've been gone on vacation 3 weeks WITHOUT the car). The dealer said to run Premium in it. Is that what you folks are doing?????

Thanks

RTFM. The manual states a minimum of 91 octane. Read and heed. There is also a lot of other good stuff in the manual. You really should read it.

Save your money, good quality 89 octane will do the trick. Unless your running an M3 or a modified vehicle the 89 will run fine and will not muck up your engine.

You can run premium if you change your oil every 3,000 miles with full synthetic, perform all other schedule maintenance at ½ of what the manual says, use all those handy chemicals that clean your injectors/fuel pump/cylinders/hoses/plugs/muffler bearings, etc... and are a nut that plans to keep your car for 300,000+ miles.

That's my $0.02!

After picking up the bimmer in Munich, I preceeded to drive it 2900 miles and the highest octane sold (that I could find) was 83 or 85... once in a while I could find 87, but that was it... The car still ran like a raped ape, went 135 mph, and gave me an awesome 12.6 mpg for the tank-full. Now, in the Azores I'm treated to 89 and car performs as well... maybe pulls a little harder through the powerband , but I attribute that to the engine still breaking in, not raising the octane 2 points. Also, the gas mileage is up to 15.2. I am a lucky guy. (Don't flame my engine break-in therory, I believe the motor continues breaking in until the 8-10,000 mile mark)

dzervit, that picture in your profile at 134mph at 5900rpm was it in 5th gear? When you did it was the road level, uphill or downhill? And, is that the maximum speed it would go???

i run 93.

running lower octane gas is like smoking a cigarettes in a house with six infant children (one for each cylinder) though it may not affect them right away, in 15 years they'll be addicted, and in 150,000 miles they are going to be dead.

I run 93 octane, fill up twice a week minimum, alternate each week with either a gas booster or a fuel injector cleaner, tires balanced every 3000 miles, tire pressure checked weekly, waxed every two months, hand washed twice a week, rub her tummy every night and I lease this lady...........high maintenance is my motto........[rofl] [rofl] [rofl]

If you look closely, you'll see I didn't take too much time in Photoshop to doctor the photo. It's actually a photo I took with the car off and all needles in their resting place. I think I was a estimated the RPMs a bit high (since 134mph is govenor limited, not drag). I haven't had the 325 at its max speed yet. Fasted traveled to date was 147mph in my '01 Lincoln LS (govenor limited).

Uhhhh... are you serious? It's car, not a nuclear bomb for Pete's sake. And a lease?!!! Rip that bad boy up and turn in a broken-down-ready-for-the-scrap-pile-no-resale-value pile. That's what did with my LS, and I never stopped smiling while I pummeled that car into submission.

I have a nasty habit of ripping on lease vehicles... If I don't own it, why baby it? Have some fun.

I'm supposed to average 180+, but bowled a 191 (before beer), 170 (during beer), and a 150 (after beer). I'll shy away from the suds on tomorrow night's league.
