That's D for Delivery. My Ultimate Driving Machine is scheduled for delivery today based on the BMWUSA.com site, and the dealer seems pretty optimistic. Even though the website only changed this morning to show that the car has reached the processing center, that data has been at least a few days behind the curve all the way, so my fingers are crossed that I'll join you lucky bastards and drive some German kick-ass machinery tonight or tomorrow.

Anyone know how long the car stays at the dealership before you can pick it up? My concentration level at work has now officially reached zero.

Im dying too!!!! My 330 CiC I ordered in July, hot the port last wednesday. My dealer told me after it hits port he gets it within about 3 days (LIE). There arent gonna be many nice days left here in NY. last time we spoke he told me he was getting me some kinda electric heated vest. I told him no thanks, so he said he was gonna load me up with stuff... Dont know what that means, but add it to my FREE PP and boy do I like my dealer...

My dealer has been spinning the same story to me. Our cars were almost certainly on the same boat. My car is coming to NJ. They called last Thursday morning talking like the car would hit the dealership on Friday morning. As of yesterday afternoon, it was nowhere in sight and they were "pretty sure" it will be here over the next few days. I think it will come in today or tomorrow. After that, I figure they wax it up and give her the once over before grabbing my check and moving on. Don't see any reason I can't take delivery the same day the dealer gets it, but you never know.

Anyway, I feel your pain. I also ordered in early July so my 3-series brochure is pretty ragged at this point. Good luck!

Congrats you guys, and welcome aboard. Can't wait to see your new rides.

My car was already at the port when I bought it, and it still took a little over a week to get to me. Of course, at the time that I was ordering the car, the salesman told me it would only take 2 or 3 days to get from the port to my driveway. Hmmmm... I think he was interested in getting my deposit.

Anyway, the wait is maddening, but hang in there. It is totally worth it.

I bought the car from Circle BMW. No complaints with them so far, but the wait is pretty frustrating since it's been so long since the original order and I have no patience. The car is a 2004 325xi, black/tan with wood trim, manual tranny, PP, SP, Cold Weather Package, NAV. If it was a GM the wait wouldn't be so bad, but it's my first BMW so I'm climbing the walls. Like you said, the weather forecasts through early Saturday look great. After that, it starts getting cold and grey.

You might be right about the waxing. Hopefully the dealer has a good detailer that does a premium job.

Good for you snow!

I also have an 04 325 xi (Orient Blue, SP, PP, manual) on order and it is due to arrive in NY
today (it was on the ship "Tosca"). The wait has been killing me and my productivity
has also plummetted dramatically. Same boat here....never owned a German car and
I'm going out of my mind. I wanted to ask you...why did it take so long? I ordered mine in
September and I should take delivery in a week or so. You ordered in July??? WHy so long?

Enjoy the new beast. Let us know what happens.

Sounds like a sweet ride is heading your way. When I was shopping for a new car in July I decided to wait for the 2004 models to come out rather than get an "old" 2003. At the time, there was a strike at the German plant, and the new models seem to roll out in October of each year, so I figured my delivery date would be in mid-October and that's the way it's shaping up.

It's been a valuable educational experience to read through all the posts on this board, from cleaning/maintenance through preferred options packages and mods, so it wasn't a total waste.

Too bad it's not here today, cause it isn't gonna be 75 degrees in NJ/NY much longer.

Snow, did you talk to your dealer? did it not come. My guy is off today, but said it may show up. Wish they could call the VPC to find out exactly where the hell they are....

Loon

I've gotten tired of calling the dealer, since they don't seem to have much of a clue. All the way from production to shipment I've gotten much more information from calling BMW North America directly. At this point, I'm going to wait for the dealer to call and tell me it's OK to fork over my $, and since it's now 3:00 I assume it isn't going to be today.

More pain!

Good luck guys, and GO YANKEES!!

i kno the wait will be killing ya, but remember even after you get the car, you have to wait for the break-in period which is another killer.. damn slowest 1250 miles ever!!! but i digress, enjoy yer ride, when they finally show up ^^

The saga continues

I'm beginning to understand why people complain about the BMW service. Now the dealer is showing a "don't call us, we'll call you" attitude, after all but guaranteeing that my car would be at the dealership a week ago. Never once have they offered any freebies. Even quoted me prices for add-ons that were higher than advertised on their own website.

Isn't that special

Well Tahts one thing I have to say my dealer did do. First they made the error with the PP, so he said if I would still take the car there would be no additional charge for it. Now he offered me the heated vest, which I declined, but he said he would "load" me up with some stuff. But still has the same, we will call you. Isnt there a way for these guys to call the VPC and see WTF is going on.

another wasted nice day the rag ould have been down.

Hey Loon

Get this one. Just got a call from the dealer. "The car still isn't here, and we understand there were some delays at the port." Things are going to get very interesting now. Either they tell me exactly when the damn car is going to be ready for pickup or I may head to the Infinity dealer for a G35 coupe. I'm getting concerned that the car is damaged and they are trying to fix it.

Let me know if you are getting a similar story about delayed deliveries.

Snowsedan, just wait it out. I know the wait is very frustrating but get what you really want, and that is the 325xi. You will have no regrets once you get it.
Also, don't be too optimistic...car dealerships are always there to break your heart when it comes to delivery times. It's very sad, but true.

Snow,

I agree with Elussive. I'm in the same boat. My 325xi just hit the shores yesterday. I called my dealer and I knew more about the car than he did. At that moment, rather than get pissed, I just decided to wait it out without breaking balls. It'll make the moment much sweeter when the day finally arrives. Before you know it, youll be driving the awesome vehicle and the fact that the waiting drove you crazy will be a distant memory.

And the beat goes on....

They now tell me that there was a recall on some new computer chips they are installing on all the 2004 3-Series cars at the port. My car is scheduled to have the chip replaced today (yeah, right) and they say it "should" be at the dealership by next Monday or by early Wednesday. I'm not holding my breath since they've lied all along, but I am holding a very large cashiers check that is collecting dust.

You guys are right, it will be worth the wait and making a federal case out of it won't get the car to me any faster. But if they acted like NEW car dealers instead of USED car dealers it would have made it easier to tolerate.
