Hello everyone,
Being a newbie, to both BMW and the forum, I thought I would drop my 2 cents. I just bought a 03 325iw/sport. I have taken it to 125 and it is smooooooth. I bought the car to drive and I love the performance it offers. I almost bought a C230, but drove the 3 and fell in love. Guys, take your cars and run them a bit. They were made to run, so run em. Mr ellusive, if you need help, I am more than willing to jump in. I have read quite a few post here and it is easy to see that everyone loves their car. Best wishes and happy trails

Brand new car at 125?? Don't know if that's too healthy for it.

You California guys with your fast Bimmers.... Go anywhere EAST and the fear of cops will be the ONLY thing in your way...[:D] [:D] [:D]
What are you talking about? I live in Northern VA and at 3am if you look down the road all you see is long streaks of red and white. There's so much traffic around here, I hate it. I don't even get to go the speed limit. However on the HOV theres my favorite straight, I've done about 125 on it and it feels like 70.

I think DC traffic is far worse than LA traffic. The beltway is hell all of the time IMO. At least in LA you can actualy move after 7-8PM. The problem is no space;where can you put more or larger roads? Take out some of Old Town Alexandria, yea I don't think people would be too happy about that. And where would you ever put a new bridge to cross from DC to NOVA?

Well when I said EAST of CA, I didn't necessarily mean all the way to the east coast [:D] [:D] [:D]

I meant EAST of CA, which includes AZ, NM, OK, KS, TX and all that kind of stuff. There (at least in midwest) roads are so empty most of the day, you are only limited by your guts and your horsepwer[:D] [:D] [:D] . I did my 127 at 3pm where I saw maybe 10 cars for an hour of driving.[rofl] [rofl] [rofl] [rofl]
At night, like 3AM there is absolutely noone on the roads. Again, please exclude big city vicinites, I am talking about areas between cities, like interstates.

I hit 95 while driving on I-95, no pun intended, the car drives so smooth that it felt like I was doing only 55 MPH. I just happen to look down at the speedometer and saw my speed was 40MPH more than I thought. I was lucky that there were no cops around.
This is the only car I've ever owned that I drive with the stereo off so I can listen to the engine purr!!!!!!!! The Ultimate Driving Machine for sure!!!!!

Good luck, but don't get yourself killed. I was freaking out at close to 130mph.... (especially since I still had to watch out for the cops). If I were you I'd have a friend with a walkie talkie in his car several miles infront of you letting you know the 'cop' situation. Then, you can focus thoroughly on your safety.
True, if he is going to try, make sure the road is wide open and free of traffic and police. It is always best to have a spotter if given the chance. Another thing, look out for debris in the roadway. It can be quite deadly. [eek]

You have some nice roads in Florida but a whole lot of cops hiding out on them. I saw what must have been 20-30 cops sitting on the side of the road between Big Pine and key West. [paranoid] And forget it in your part of the state, at least from what I see, cops are like reflectors on the highway there. but I have never seen one between Tampa and Orlando, but I have only driven that like 5-6 times.[driving]

Hit about 137, or right where the limiter stopped me anyway, I was watching the road and didn't even know I was approaching that speed yet! Guess that says something for the car. North on I-5 at about 3 a.m., just after the grapevine, so long and straight I could have held that speed for a while. I love BMW's!!!

For me driving fast is almost on a daily bases. I drive my IN 500 at speeds aproaching 200mph = 340kmh.

Use to have a 325i and that was capable of 155mp/h.
I am assuming you mean on a track or an an autobahn with the 200mph thing.

If you are doing this on American highways I need you to stop by my house so I can punch you in the head to try and knock some sense into you.[fake] [?|] [8] [8] [8]

Right after the grapevine (at the bottom of the hill basically and right before the split btw the 5 and the other freeway), there's rarely ever cops. Don't think I've ever seen one actually. Once you get on the 5 though, that's when all the cops appear.

1. 340 kmh is equal to over 210 mph. You need a lot more than 500 hp in a 4000 lb. M5 to do 210 mph. Drag is a serious problem at those speeds, and the M5 is a brick. Even with 800 hp. I think you would have a problem getting up to those speeds.

2. So not only did you have the world's fastest lightly modified 325i, you also now have the world's fastest M5?

Yet, you can't spell basis, convert mph to kph correctly or put together a complete and grammatically correct sentence?

Why don't you post that on www.m5board.com and see what they say.

Anybody smell something?

Well, the car DOES exist and apparently CAN do 200 mph with 500hp.
Yes, I saw that site as well. If he does own one, I congratulate him on his good fortune and all that crap. I can't imagine one would be driving it so quickly on US highways, so it must be based in Germany, which may explain the English as a second language vibe I'm picking up [;)]

And now that I am thinking about it, 155 mph INDICATED is possible in an E36 325i, but I would expect that the actual speed of the car did not exceed 150 mph, and was probably more like 146-148, just based on speedometer error.

So maybe Bimmer(sic)world is a straight-up guy; who really knows these days.
