Krafty - Just post a new thread here in the 3 Series forum. Since you did buy a 3 series, seems appropriate to me. Pictures have to be less than 50K in size to post directly to the board. Quick tip - use a freeware/shareware program to reduce the size of your pics and save them as a JPG file. You may also need to reduce the 'quality' setting to make the file smaller. There is a test forum here, you can use that to practice uploading the pics, and ask questions or get help.

ive gone maybe 110mph going home from my cousins house in sunnyvale at about 1:00am. now, my girlfriend... well, she's gone faster in my own car then me... we were in mild to no traffic and a 4door m3 racing a civic stopped and matched speeds with her (maybe he got bored with them or something). she decides to speed up and the m3 fallows. next thing i know i look at my speedometer and its at 130 or so and still going up [ohcrap] . i was like [headbang] and like [pray] cause she won (he was bout half a car length till he shut down). he pulled next to us saw he was beat by a girl, smiled and gave us the thumbs up, then got of at the next exit. so just wonder, whats my limiter at?

I broke down and finally let my foot take over to see just what my new ride ('00 323i) would do. The Saturday after Christmas, I took my Mom and Uncle to the airport at around 5:30am for an early flight. I ride north and dropped onto 400 (Toll rd north of Atlanta, called the 'Alpharetta Autobaun' by many around here). No traffic at all going north, I stuck it to 115 going up the hill after the toll, and kept it there for about 6 miles until I got off at my exit. Smooth as butter, it could have gone further but I was quite fine at 115, fastest I've ever taken a car that I've owned. I was floored by the acceleration. Until about 105, it was just hard, after 105 it eased up to 115, but did it pretty effortlessly.

Next stop, some track racing! I gotta get her out on a track or good isolated curvy hilly road, and really explore the car more..

Any tips from ATL drivers on good safe places to go?

The zhp is supposed to do 155......

Oh and my new record up from 131 is 134 or 135 and I took it over a wide curve, suprisingly the car handled like a race car, I did tap the brakes over the curve and got like a bang sound.(not a good idea, but im still here...) Though I would not advocate turning at 130+ to anyone ever.[screwy]

We have lots of wide open country roads around here with little traffic and
even fewer cops, so one day I decided to take my 02'330i out and see what
it would do.

At the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning I chose a nice, flat, straight,
newly paved piece of road with a generous shoulder and no trees,
obstructions or crossroads for miles. It had good visibility, making it easy to
spot any traffic, cops, or other hazards well in advance.

One of dangers that came to mind while I was planning my little law breaking
adventure was deer, around here we get quite a few that like to jump out in
front of the unsuspecting motorist and get pasted, something that would be
catastrophic at two or three times the speed limit. [eek] Fortunately, this was
in the fall and there was nothing but plowed cornfields on either side of the road.
Having no place for them to hide and ambush me made me feel a little more at ease.

Anyway, as I accelerated I really liked how the 330 just kept pulling, even
as I passed 100mph, nice linear torque, impressive for a six cylinder. It crept
right up to about 135 pretty quickly, where the electronic governor kept me
from getting any sillier. It felt like it could have kept right on accelerating, I
didnt notice how close I was to the redline as I was too busy watching the
road. Handing was rock solid, felt like I could have been doing 60, smooth as
could be and not a waver in the steering. My previous car, an 01 Trans Am,
would do about 155 but could start feeling a leeeetle vague and spooky at
those speeds. Not the beemer though, a confidence inspring car for sure.

Heh, 85 and 90? I drive that speed for 45 minutes at a time heading to
friends and relatives. [:)]

Fastest was 110 MPH for about 15 seeconds, felt stable and ready to go faster.

On the highway, 80-85 is pretty much cruising speed most of the time.

The fastest i ever got my 2001 330i up to was 130 mph draging my friend. I was shocked at the stability of the car and the smooth ride. I only did 130 for 5 sec before realizing i am going way too fast considering the speed limit is 40 mph!

You can't go much faster unless you have a chip because the top speed is electronically limited to 135mph. That is why I only went about 120mph in mine (limit is 128 mph) because there wouldn't be much of a difference and I didn't feel like risking it too much.

Hit @105-110 on my trip up to SF a while back. Couldn't believe how nice the steering felt at taht speed. I think it gets better with more feel and accuracy the faster you go. Didn't go any faster cuz my radar was on the fritz that trip tho I wanted to.

128ish on my way to lunch at about 12:45 in the afternoon. my 325 woulndt go anymore, the needle was just under 130, and the manual says top speed is 128. whre i live heres is a road thats about 3-4 miles of no lights, no cops, no traffic, and flat so if there were to be a cop, u can see it form far away.

also about US's stupid american cop car only policy, is that for bikes too, bokes around here are BMW.
